ENGL. SYNAESTHESIA,

DEUTSCH SYNÄSTHESIE

It is a perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway. Synesthesia is when you hear music, but you see shapes.

Or you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. Synesthesia is a fancy name for when you experience one of your senses through another. People who report a lifelong history of such experiences are known as synesthetes.

Synesthesia was a free work in cooperation with David Haase. We partnered up to create a visual experience by interpreting the color blue and incorporating organic shapes.

The film Synthesia is about the creation of conceptual art, especially photography. It's about the process of creation and before that. What is behind it. What is behind the image and how it feels.

"The film is about vision, inspiration, the accumulation of impressions, regardless of the sensory organs. Everything I hear, feel, see and taste. Everything adds up to a feeling. Everything I feel becomes a vision. It's all in my head and this vision, when realized, creates art. In the process of realization, all impressions flow in and together. A work of art is created. What remains in the end through the feeling of an individual and the passion of realization is the work of art. The artwork conveys the feeling to the viewer and in turn triggers new feelings. The reason why art is so phenomenal." - David Haase
